It's magic meets Miku in this crossover — and certainly one that we didn't expect.

The cultural icon Hatsune Miku will be coming to Magic: The Gathering in an upcoming Secret Lair set, Wizards of the Coast announced on Tuesday (April 30).

Miku, a Vocaloid who quickly became a hit in Japan since her launch in 2007, is an anthropomorphised software voicebank by Crypton Future Media.

She has been featured in multiple hit anime and manga since her debut, gaining traction with a global audience, even holding 'live' concerts such as her recent performance at Coachella 2024.

Magic: The Gathering isn't new to collaborations like this — the tabletop card game only recently wrapped up a collaboration with post-apocalyptic video game series, Fallout, right after one with the hit British TV series, Doctor Who.

The first of four sets, the upcoming Secret Lair drop will feature Magic cards with art of Hatsune Miku, themed after the first of four seasons: spring.

"Secret Lair lets us take the things fans already love about Magic: The Gathering and combine them with pop culture moments and amazing new artists," said Mark Heggen, Wizards of the Coast's Vice President of Collectibles, IGN reported on Tuesday.

"We're thrilled to team up with the global phenomenon that is Hatsune Miku to put on this year-long celebration for fans around the world."

Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar will be available for preorder starting on May 13, 9am PDT (May 14, 12am in Singapore). Non-foil cards will be sold at US$29.99 (S$40.82) and foil edition cards will be sold at US$39.99.
